Description: Nell and Fran are the same person. Her name was Nell Frances- Fran was her nickname. Alvin's middle name was Howard. Austin Otto was born in 1954 in Bainbridge, Ga. Austin O married Sandra Jones from Dyliss community, Nell married CCharles Richard Matthews, Alvin H married Tina Turnbull/Turnbill and Samuel Ray was married at least four times- the ones I remember are Flora Brown from Coalfield, Josephine "Jobie" LNU[this is the one he had his daughter Samantha by] and a girl named Sue LNU the Glades community.

Sources: I know this family personally and lived with them off and on for several years after I was grown.

Died:
Samuel R. Woods, age 50, a resident of Coalfield, died Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the Roane Medical Center in Harriman.

Sam was born December 19, 1958 in Oak Ridge. He was a lifelong resident of Coalfield.

Sam was a God fearing man, a master craftsman who enjoyed woodworking and horses.

He worked as a carpenter who mastered all the different aspects of home building including electrical and plumbing.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Austin A. Woods and Frankie Pride Woods, by paternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. William C. Woods and by maternal grandparents Mr. & Mrs. John F. Pride.

He is survived by a daughter Samantha Byrd and husband Jeff of Oak Ridge, by a sister Fran Mathews and husband Rick of Claxton, by brothers Austin O. Woods of Harriman and Alvin H. Woods of Coalfield, by a niece Lori Matthews, by nephews David, A.J., and T.J. Woods, by special friends Mike Wallace and Terry Anderson, and extended family.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 6, 2009 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm at Sharp Funeral Home. Graveside services and burial will be held Monday, September 7, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Indian Creek Cemetery with Rev. Chester Woods officiating. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
