Blaine "Toop" Adcock, age 91, of Coalfield, crossed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on March 23, 2012, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

Mr. Adcock was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, who he greatly missed and spoke of often, Lorene Justice Adcock, by parents, Dewey and Hazel (Hensley) Adcock, by a daughter, JoAnn Chapman, by a daughter-in-law, Helen (Briggs) Adcock, by sisters; Ruth Shoemaker and Mae Fritts, by brothers; Hugh Don "Cocky" Adcock, Bill Adcock, J.B. Adcock and Frank Adcock, and by great-grandsons, Terry and Sonny McPeters.

He also leaves behind a large number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends to mourn his passing.

Mr. Adcock was a lifelong resident of Coalfield and a prominent member of his community. He was well known and well liked in the community with many people coming to him for advice, or just stopping by to sit on the porch with him for a while. H He was well known for his large gardens, which oftentimes fed not only his family but many others. Another trademark that characterized Mr. Adcock in the community was Sunday afternoon gathering of his family at his home. He cooked Sunday dinner for his family, every Sunday since 1998.

Mr. Adcock was a member of Kellytown Baptist Church in Oliver Springs and attended faithfully. He was a 62 year member of the Black Diamond Masonic Lodge # 625 F & AM in Petros. He was employed at the Coalfield School for many years and he later retired from the Cumberland Utility District.

There are not enough words to describe this man and the impact his life had on many. While Mr. Adoock's family is saddened by their loss, they know that if there was ever a man ready to go it was him and they find comfort in knowing that this is not the end for him, but the beginning of his eternity. The family would like to express their gratitude to all the home health nurses from Amedisys who visited Mr. Adcock's home.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 26, 2012, between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 pm, at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastors Gary Massengill and Kevin Thacker officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at 11:00 am, at the Estes Cemetery in Coalfield with Pastor Tommy Hensley officiating. Ralph "Goo-Goo" Adcock, 69, of Harriman, died Thursday, March 26, 2009, at his home.

Born March 29, 1939, in Coalfield, he lived in Ohio for four years before moving to Harriman in 1969. He retired from the construction business. For many years, he installed and repaired both commercial and residential heating and air-conditioniing units. A faithful member of Lee Village Baptist Church, Harriman, he was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Germany. A great conversationalist, he kept abreast of and enjoyed talking about current events. He loved Coalfield and was a supporter of Coalfield High School and the Yellow Jackets football team. He was also a University of Tennessee football fan.

He was preceded in death by mother, Gladys Adcock; by Kern and Bill Adcock, with whom he made his home; and brother, Terry Douglas Russell.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Jean Woods Adcock; daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Michael Poland of Harriman; granddaughter, Abbigail Poland of Harriman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lewanda and Kenneth Ward of Coalfield, Loretta Coopoper of Ohio, Jayleen and Don Williams and Danajo and Larry McCrosky, all of Georgia, and Cricket Beams of Pennsylvania; brothers and sisters-in-law, Butch and Polly Adcock of Montana, Wayne and Joanne Adcock of Jonesboro, Ed and Doris Adcock and Keith and Wilma Adcock, all of Coalfield, and Spanky and Linda Adcock of Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and special friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, in Sharp Funeral Home, Oliver Springs. Funeral service will follow, with Pastor David Tapp officiating. Graveside service and burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at Adcock Cemetery, Coalfield.

FUTRELL, MR. ELDON A. "JOHN" - age 76 of Harriman, passed away Sunday February 19, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. He was born January 12, 1936 to the late Lonnie and Ira Jackson Futrell in Morgan County where he lived until his graduation from Coalfield High School. John

served in the United States Army as a mechanic from January 1955 till January 1957 and then in the Army Reserve until April 30, 1963. He always had a love of cars, so in 1964 he opened Futrell's Used Cars in Harriman and fulfilled his life-long desire by serving the community for over 47 years. John was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. Along with his parents he also preceded in death by his son: Terry Lee Futrell. One brother: Franklin Futrell. A brother-in-law: Roger Daniels. And a sister-in-law: Christine Daniels Kilgore.

He is survived by his wife of many years: Ruth Daniels Futrell. One grandson: Jacob Futrell and his mother Racia Lawson both of Knoxville. Sisters-in-law: Margie Futrell of Harriman, Judy Daniels of Rockwood. Brothers-in-law: Herman Daniels and wife Sue of Oliver Springs and Lester Kilgore Jr. of Oliver Springs. Many devoted nieces, nephews and cousins. Special friends Caroline Diggs and the late Carl Diggs of Harriman.

The family will receive friends Tuesday February 21, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 7:00 pm with Pastor Garvin Walls officiating. EDWARD (TOMMY) - 67 of Johnson City who went home to be with the Lord will have funeral services held Thursday, May 30, 2002 8 p.m. Saturday at Southside Baptist Church, Johnson City, Tenn. Story:
Dr. EDWARD "Tommy" FUTRELL, 67, of 3204 Buckingham Drive, Johnson City, died Thursday, May 30, 2002, at his home following an extended illness. Dr. Futrell was a native of Coalfield and had lived in Johnson City for the past 20 years. He was the son of Lewis and Lassie King Futrell, who are deceased.

He had been a pastor in East Tennessee for over 30 years and served as a trustee of the North American Mission Board/Home Mission Board.

Dr. Futrell was chaplain for the Johnson City Police Department and was the starting member of the volunteer Johnson City Medical Center chaplain staff.

He was a member of Clark Street Baptist Church in Johnson City.

His family said all who knew him will miss his wisdom, strength, faithfulness and love. They described him as a steadfast warrior of the faith and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He was a pastor and mentor who taught through example of his own life, they said.

Dr. Futrell is survived by his wife of 46 years, Roberta A. Futrell; two daughters, Denise Futrell of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Deborah Eubank and her husband, Lee, of Somerset, Ky.; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy Joe Futrell and Sue and Gilbert Barber, all of Coalfield, Terry and Marsha Futrell of Kingston, Barbara and Franklin "Buddy" Poland of Spring City, and Margaret and James Rather of Oliver Springs. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Elizabeth Whitehouse and Andrew Whitehouse, both of Somerset; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held Saturday night, June 1, at Southside Baptist Church in Johnson City with the Rev. Kenneth Kyker, the Rev. Michael Anglin and the Rev. John Wood officiating. A graveside service was held Sunday, June 2, at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton. Dr. Futrell's nephews, David Johnson, Bill Johnson, Mark Rather, Dennis Poland, Mike Futrell, Tim Futrell, Wesley Wyrick and Derrick Rather, served as pallbearers.

The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the Building Fund at Clark Street Baptist Church, 200 Clark St., Johnson City, TN 37601; or to the Building Fund at Southside Baptist Church, 1928 Wheeler St., Johnson City, TN 37601.
