    Died:
RUSSELL, BONNIE - of Coalfield, daughter of the late Mae Walls Thornton and Wade Thornton, passed away on December 8, 2010. She was a lifetime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Bonnie loved her community and the people who live there. She was employed in the Coalfield School for many years before her retirement. She was known as Miss Bonnie to the many children she worked with over the years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her generosity to others unsurpassed; life, to Bonnie, was never about herself. She was constantly thinking about others, even during her illness. She was a caretaker throughout her life. Widowed at a young age, she became the caretaker of both her mother and grandmotther. She was always happy with the simple life she lived. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her, and her influence will live on in the hearts of many. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Willis H. Russell, who was killed in action in World War II at the age of twenty-one; her brothers, Wade H. Thornton, Jr. and Carl Thornton; and a special nephew, Richard Thornton. She is survived by a daughter, Melba McKeethan and her husband, Tim; two granddaughters, Janene Browder and her husband, John; Heather Burnett and her husband, Brian; three great-grandchildren, Laura Browder, Andrew Sullivan and Ethan Burnett; sister, Wilma Crowder; special sister-in-law and nephews and nieces. The family wiill receive friends on Saturday, December 11, 2010 between the hours of 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield.
