"SAM" - age 57, a resident of Coalfield, passedaway Friday, May 3, 2002 at Vanderbilt Medical Center of Nashville.Mr. Sampsel was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee Sampsel, Sr.Survivors: mother, Eva Dean Adcock Sampsel of Coalfield; sons, GeorgeEvan Sampsel and wife, Carla, of Knoxville and Joel Lee Sampsel andwife, Scarlett, of Wartburg; grandchildren, Evan, Skylar and Zack;brothers, Rodney Lynn Sampsel and wife, Diane, of Texas and RichardSampsel and wife, Dottie, of Knoxville; special friends, JoycePetrowski of Powell. Mr. Sampsel was born July 6, 1944 in Coalfield.He was a retired Contractor. He retired in 1992. He was a member ofCumberland Baptist Church of Knoxville, however he was very active inboth Cumberland Baptist Church and Pleasant Grove Baptist Church ofCoalfield. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 6, 2002 at 8:00p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Mack Smith and Rev.Hershel Chevallier officiating. The fafamily will receive friendsMonday, May 6, 2002 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. atPleasant Grove Baptist Church. Burial and graveside services will beheld Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Estes Cemetery ofCoalfield.
