- Clifton Clyde Brown, 83, of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.
The son of John L. and Kizzie Patterson Brown, he was born Nov. 28, 1917, in Anderson County and was a lifelong resident of this area.
Mr. Brown had been a self-employed businessman for many years.
He was a member of Frost Bottom Missionary Baptist Church and served the church as a deacon.
His hobbies included gardening and music, and his family said he was an accomplished musician who could play several different musical instruments.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Hensley Brown; his sons, Jimmy Ray Brown and his wife, Connie Faye, of Soddy Daisy, Clyde Wayne Brown and his wife, Trinia, of Tellico Plains, Steven Edward Brown and his wife, Lisa, of Clinton, and Paul Douglas Brown and his wife, Rhonda, and Larry Eugene Brown and his wife, Lisa, all of Oliver Springs; and by his daughters, Wilma Griffith and Alma Lively and her husband, Billy, all of Oliver Springs.
Mr. Brown is also survived by his sister, Lillie Mae Carter of Oliver Springs; and by 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grand children.
In addition to his parents, another son, Terry Lee Brown, and a grandson, Jason "Jake" Griffith, died earlier. Eight brothers and three sisters are also deceased: Charlie Brown, Alford Brown, Tommy Brown, Eli Brown, Roy Brown, Houston Brown, Willie Brown, J.W. Brown, Edna Brown, Rosie Brown and Lizzie Lowe.
The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, Dec. 28, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs.
The Rev. Keith Price and the Rev. Ralph Wilson will officiate.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at Anderson Memorial Gardens, Oliver Springs Highway, Clinton.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
