Lucy married Richard Malone on 27 Feb 1811 in Knox, Tennessee, United States. Richard was born in 1761 in Maryland, United States; died in 1858 in Union, Tennessee, United States. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Married:
Richard and Lucy Lett Malone are only possibilities as parents of Mildred and Sarah Malone and NOT proven.

1850 Census shows Sarah as 16 when she would have been only 6 per family records that show birth year as 1844.

There is also a 3-year-old son in the household. Lucy would have been 54 years old when she had this child if the child was indeed their son.

1850 census shows Richard as 81 years old, Lucy 57, Sarah 16, and son aged 3. No other children shown. But since they were married in 1811, it is quite likely they had children grown and no longer living with them.

A family record found on Ancestry shows Richard Malone's tombstone in Union County and his birth date as 1791. It shows Lucy's birthdate as 1793. That would make her age accurate with the 1850 census but not Richard's.

The same family record has Sarah married to someone else, not James C. Dunn. Is it possible she was married twice or is this a different Sarah Malone.

"In the names of God Amen December 28th, 1802 I James Lett of Mecklenburg County being sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto almight God for the same do make and ordaid this my last will and in manner and form following. Item I give unto my beloved wife Lucy Lett one feather bed and furniture the one we lay on. Item I give unto my son James Lett one feather bed and furniture to be his and his heirs forever. Item I give unto my son Matthew Hubbard Lett one feather bed and furniture when he comes of age to be to him and his heirs forever. Item I give unto my daughter Sally Lett one feather bed and furniture when she come of age to be to her and her heirs forever. Item I give unto my son Ambrose Lett one feather bed and furniture when he comes of age to be to him and his heirs forever. Item I give to my daughter Lucy Lett one feather be and furniture when she comes of age to be to her and her heirs forever. I desire that my wife should have the said land during her widowhood and at her death or marriage the said land to be sold and the money equally divided among my children before mentioned. I lend unto my beloved wife three Negroes (to wit.) Bette, Silva, and Fed during her life or widowhood they and their increase to be sold and equally divided between my children las mentioned yet my desire is also that one yoke of steers and eleven heads of sheep should be sold for the support of my family. Item I give unto my granddaughter Mason twnety shillings. Item I give unto my son John Lett ten dollars. Item I give unto my son Robert Lett ten dollars. I also desire that all my stock of every kind horses, cattle hoggs, all my household kitchen furniture and plantation untensils to tedious to mention to be sold and the money arising from the sale to be equally divided between my five children first mentioned at the death or marriage of my beloved wife. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the date and year first above written." James Lett.
