    Is this the Mary you refer to as marrying Joseph D. Jones???? Or isthere another WM & Sarah Williams??? I have not documentation toback it up but was told years ago by Louis Jones that this Mary JaneWilliams 1840 shown as Mary in 1860 Jane in 1850 was married to ourSamuel Summers. ??????? He told me that William Williams 1803 wasfirst married to a Mary Hicks?

    Justice of the court of pleas and quarter session((__?_)) settingunder court of record, Mathias WILLIAMS a resident of the County ofMorgan and State of Tennessee aged Seventy six
    years of age who being duly sworn according to ((_?_)) doth on hisoath make the following decleration in oder to obtain the benefit ofthe act of Congress passed June the 7th 1832. That he was borndNovember 14th 1755 in Cumberland County Virginia and lived there the((18th?)) of
    January 1781 when he was drafted and called into the service of theunited States Service under the follow named officers to wit Capt((Cudi?/Cude?)) HOSKINS Major EDMONDS Col DOLMAN marchedto & rendezvoused at Petersburg where he was on or about the 20th saidmonth honorably & verbally discharg by Captain HOSKINS he returnedhome & was
    again drafted and called into the service of the united States on the1st day of June 1781 under the following named officer Captain RichardALLEN -- marched to Carters Ferry on James River and then to Dandridgeon pomonkey ((Pamunkey)) River rendivoused and joined the main Armycommanded by Brigder General Robert LAWSON who was commanded by MajorGeneral LAFAYETTE marched under LAFAYETTE to Bottom Bridge on Hickorynut Church Was there when the Battle was fought by General WAYNE &Genl CAMPBELL against CORNWALLICE at Old James Town. But was not inthe Battle then marched to Holasford. Stationed there three weeks thento ((Morgan NILES?)). Stationed there three or four weeks then marchedto Rackets landing near Richmond and was there h honorably but verballydischarged about the 8 of August 1781 by Captain ALLEN having servedabout three months. He was again drafted and called into the serviceof the united States Between the fifteenth & last of August, aforesaidmonth & year 17881 under the following named officers to HOSKINS Col SKIPWITH then marched & rendevoused at Swans point onJames River opposite to old James Town. Then marched to YORK TOWN bythe way of Old Williamsburg was in the seige of York under the officerof Genl Robert LAWSON Brigadr continued in the siege until CORNWALLAUSsurrendered and until two days afterwards when he was verry sick &discharged by Inspecter Doctor whos name is not now recollected. Hereturnd home having served about three months the precise day ofdischarge not now recollected. This applicant may be mistaken as todates but well recollects the service by him rendered as set out inthe foregoing declaration and cannot be mistaken about the same. Hehas no ((_?_ )) Dockumentary evidence whereby he can prove hisservice nor has he any written record of his age this applicant livedin the State of Virginia in Cumberland County about 11 years after theWar was over. Then moved to Campbell County Virginia Lived there a aboutthis term years. Then moved to Tenn Anderson County Lived there sixyears. He volunteered there for duty during theRevolutionary War. His first term was for three months ( serving as aprivate in a regiment under Captain William Jackson & was honorablydischarged) & he was later drafted for another three months (servingunder Captain Isabel, Col. Elisha Issaac & others). He was in theBattle of Cox's Mill & King's Mountain, among others. Joseph m: SalomeRoss in 1781 at Golden Grove on the banks of the Watauga River inWilkes County, NC. She may have come from PA w/ her family. Joseph &Salome removed to TN abt 1812 & he died there in Morgan County, July30, 1847. Salome died some time after that. They were the parents of 8children.     James Brasel and Nancy Hall Brasel. James owned 50 acres on GrassyCreek in Knox Co. Nancy was the sister of David and Samuel Hall, 2 ofthe earliest settlers in Morgan Co

    James was murdered by the infamous Harpe brothers in 1799, the sameyear that his youngest son was born. After she was widowed, Nancy soldher property and followed her brothers Samuel and David Hall to thatpart of Roane Co.which later became Morgan Co. She purchased 27 acresof land from Daniel Stonecipher on Crooked Fork Creek and appeared onthe Roane Co. tax list in 1814. John, Obedience and Elizabeth Braselall married members of the Stonecipher family
