He acquired much of the Samuel Borum property in HenValley. He and Mary in turn sold one fararm to his son, Thomas Jr. in1878, which is now the C.H. Smith place, a second farm of 80 acres tohis daughter, Latha Jane Shipwash (Mrs. John) in 1880, and a thirdfarm to his grandson, William Churchill "Ole Uncle Bill" Liles, Jr onMay 24, 1888.
