- RUFFNER, THOMAS EARL, 68, of Oliver Springs, died Tuesday, Oct. 14,2003, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. Born Dec. 19, 1934, inMorgan County, he was the son of Mildred Emma Brown of Oliver Springsand Earl Ruffner, who is now deceaseded. Mr. Ruffner was a self-employedauto mechanic. He owned and operated Trans-tech Volvo Repair Shop inOak Ridge for many years. His grandparents, Dave and Bertha Ruffnerand Charlie and Bessie Hampton, also died earlier. In addition to hismotherr, Mr. Ruffner is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ida VannRuffner; two sons, Randy Ruffner and wife, Melisa, of Oliver Springs,and Ricky Ruffner and wife, Janice, of Lake City; a daughter, MissyMcBee and husband, Greg, of Oliver Springs; and by five grandchildren,Matthew Ruffner and Cory McBee, both of Oliver Springs, and ShannonRuffner, Brittney Ruffner and Kelsey Ruffner, all of Lake City. He isalso survived by two stepgrandchildren, Josh McBee and Katrena McBee,both of Oliver Springs; a brother, Randall Dean Ruffner and wife,Nancy, of Nashville; and by a sister, Sharon Marrow and husband,Dwight, of the Marlow community. The funeral will be at 8 p.m.Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in OliverSprings with the Rev. Ralph Wilson and the Rev. Garvan Wallsofficiating. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17,at Davis Cemetery in Coalfield. The family will receive friends from 6to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. [Oak Ridger]
