- BROWN, MILDRED RUFFNER, 89, of Oliver Springs, and a former residentof the Coalfield community, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at BaptistHospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville, from complications ofpneumonia. She was born April 8, 1915, in Harrimanan. Mrs. Brown was amember of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. She had previously worked atCoalfield School in the cafeteria and later at One Hour Martinizing inOak Ridge and Clinton. In addition to her parents, Charles F. andBessie E. Manning Hampton, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by herfirst husband, Earl H. Ruffner; her second husband, Raymond E. Brown;one son, Thomas E. Ruffner; and two brothers and one sister, Rev.Frank Hampton, Russell C. Hampton, and Cordie Beason. She is survivedby her daughter, Sharon Morrow and husband, Dwight, of Clinton; herson, Randy Ruffner and wife, Nancy, of Mt. Juliet; herdaughter-in-law, Ida V. Ruffner of Oliver Springs; eightgrandchildren, Lindsey Morrow, Gina Ruffner, Deana R. Hudson, DwightTThomas Clark, Rev. Mickey Clark, Randy R. Ruffner, Ricky Ruffner andMissy R. McBee; 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, MoleeRuffner Fezzie and husband, Frank, of Kingsport, and Geraldine D.Hampton of Harriman. She is also survived bby several nieces, nephewsand extended family members, and a host of special friends, includingMrs. Burley Jenkins of Oliver Springs. The funeral will be at 8 p.m.Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in the chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in OliverSprings, witth the Rev. Garvan Walls, the Rev. Keith Price and the Rev.Mickey Clark officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m.Friday, Feb. 11, at the Davis Cemetery in Coalfield. The family willreceive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. [OakRidger]
