Notes - GRIFFITH, WILLIAM EUGENE, Jr., 84, of the Hardin Valley community ofKnox County, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at Fort Sanders ParkwestMedical Center in Knoxville. Born Sept. 22, 1917, in Coalfield, he wasthe son of William Eugene Griffith Sr. and Jenny Russell Griffith. Hehad lived in Hardin Valley for the past 34 years. Mr. Griffith workedas a tool and die maker at Alcoa Inc., the Oak Ridge K-25 site, ArnoldEngineering, P & S Plastics and Ridge Metals. He is survived by hiswife, Estheer "Jackie" Nash Griffith; two daughters, Helen Townsend andher husband, Fred, of Loudon, and Nyoka Wilson and her husband,Johnny, of Sparta; three sons, Allen Nash and his wife, Cristy, ofSparta, Joe Griffith and his wife, Stacy, of Lenoir City, and GeraldT. Griffith and his wife, Amelinda, of Knoxville; his brother, RussellGriffith of Coalfield; and by 14 grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffith waspreceded in death by two sons, William Eugene Griffith III and RandallEugene Griffith. The funeral will be held at 8 tonight, June 12, inthe chapel of Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs with the Rev. DougKizer officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m.Thursday, June 13, at Oliver Springs Cemetery. The family willreceive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. [Oak Ridger]
