    • From Pat Roberts McDonald:

I have been messing with the LYLES and LILES folks again. They areworse than the SILVEY as far as figuring them out. I came across the1880 Morgan County Census, where Sarah McCormick and kids have RebeccaLiles MOTHER in the household. And since there is a marriage forSarah Liles for David McCormack in 1852, I think this might be thefamily below.

I am not sure where I got this info? Was it you, Mary Lou?

Anyway, it is one more big knot in the hairball of old Roane Co.families. Robbie Roberts is of my line, and he had two siblings whomar HESTERS -- children of Abner Hester and Mary Brashears. TheHOWARD family is tied to the SILVEYS. I don't know who Newton Lilesis, but he's in the big middle of it all.

State vs Abner Hester and Rebecca Lyle -- Circuit Court -- 1853
Charges brought up at the October term, 1852. Absalam Adkisson wasthe prosecutor. Witnesses: Jonas R. Arnold, Henry Liles, NewtonLiles, Thomas Liles, Lottie Thrailkill, Nimrod Underwood, Robert D.Duncan, Samuel Silvey, and Sarah Liles. Henry Liggett, Sr., LewisBurris and H.B. Layman entered bond with Abner Hester.

And when Benjamin Howard wanted a divorce from Mahala, the whole gangpitched in to vouch for his sterling character.

Mahaley McCormack eloped w/ another man....Petitioners: John E.Nelson, George Arnold, ....Wm Silvey, Samuel Silvey, Charles Silvey,Wm Silvey, Sr., Reuben Howard, Peter Cook, Alexander Howard, JamesHoward, John Silvey, SR., Wm Ives, Robert John Silvey, Jr, RobertLiles, and others.

Apparently Newton Liles, Clint Liles, and David McCormack were in thesame military unit together. 5th Regiment Infantry, Company F.http://www.tngennet.org/civilwar/rosters/inf/inf5/cof2.html

Can you add anything to this proposed tree? I REALLY need to findRebecca Liles in 1850. she must be in Morgan County, which I don'thave access to at home. Sarah should be in her household. Rebecca isback in Roane in 1860, and David and Sally McCormick are in Roane, next door to father, John.
