- Evaleen Adkins, age 70, a resident of Oliver Springs, died Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the home of her daughter in Clinton.
Evaleen was born on the 8th day of May, 1940 in Anderson County. She was a lifelong resident of this area.She was a lady with a strong Christian faith and a member of the Union Valley Baptist Church.Before her retirement in 2008 she was employed at Jefferson Fountain and she previously owned and operated The Terrace Of Oak Ridge.She was featured in the May 2001 issue of Southern Living Magazine where she was interviewed for southern cooking.Evaleen loved spending time with family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, shopping, playing guitar, singing, meeting people and going out to eat.S
he was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling "Short" Adkins, by her parents, Andy and Miley Aslinger Seiber, by a sister, Girlie Mae Adkins and by brothers, Dazie Ray and Fred Seiber.She is survived by daughters; Connie Duncan and husband, Terry of Clinton, Lisa Sexton and husband, Richard of Coalfield, and Pamela Yaste and fianc'ee Dan Cate of Oliver Springs, by sons; Randall Adkins and wife, Frances of Kingston, Scott Adkins of Oliver Springs and Michael Adkins of Coalfield, by grandchildren; Trish Duncan Griffith of Oliver Springs, Ricky Sexton and wife Candi of Coalfield, Maresa Tinker and husband Tony of Coalfield, Kasey Yaste Johnson and husband, Josh of Oak Ridge, Jessica Yaste of Oak Ridge, Robbie Daugherty of Coalfield, Miranda and Tabatha Adkins of Coalfield, and Andrew Norton of Kingston, by great-grandchildren; Haley and Emily Griffith of Oliver Springs, Isaac and Madison Yaste of Oak Ridge, Aiden Sexton of Coalfield, Alexis Johnson Oak Ridge, Isiah Tinker of Coalfield, by a brother, Eugene Seiber and wife, Shirley of Oliver Springs, by sisters; Alene Hines Jones and husband, Robert of Oliver Springs and Bonnie Haney of Batley. She is also survived several nieces, nephews extended family members and special friends including, Lynn Smith of Mossy Grove and Janie Silvey of Oliver Springs.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 26, 2010 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Luke Kidwell officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Thursday, May 28, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Butler Cemetery in Oliver Springs. Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
