Preceded by wife, Myrtle Strutton Cates and infant daughter, Shirley Jean Cates. Survivors: sons; George and wife Dean Cates, James E. Cates daughters, Sue and husband Danny Redmon and Louis and husband Pat Hamilton. 8 grandchildren and 3 g-grandchildren and 5 brothers. Burial in Wartburg Cemetery. (Morgan County News)
