    • CHAMBERS, JAMES HERBERT - age 88 of Huntsville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at his home with his loving family by his side. Herbert was born December 21, 1922 in Scott County, Tennessee. At an early age his family moved to Huntsville, where "Herb" dedicated his life serving his community with a passion for the youth. Herb was a member of the First Baptist Church of Huntsville, Tennessee. He was a World War II Army Veteran and retired after many years of work with the Department of Human Services. He was preceded in death by his parents George W. and Mary Thompson Chambers; sisters: Mazie George, Gladys Cross, Alta Sexton, Betty Sharp, and Margaret Leaper; brother: Milford Chambers; son: James Whitman CChambers; mother-in-law Elsie Byrd; son-in-law Lonnie Ellis. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nona Lee Chambers; daughters: Karen Ellis, Marsha Swain and husband Mike; grandchildren: Todd Swain and wife Patty, Jordan Swain, Grant Swain and wife Whitney, Chris Ellis and wife Amy, Jamie Ellis and wife Amy, Meagan Hubbard and husband Mark; great grandchildren: Nathanael Swain, Kristen Ellis, Maddison Ellis, Makennah Ellis, Kara Hubbard, and Kaelie Laxton; brother Roy Chambers and w wife June of Oak Ridge, Tennessee and a host of other family and friends including special friends H.L. and Lela Cross. Friends may visit with the Chambers' family on Friday, October 7, 2011 from 4 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7 p.m. in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home Huntsville Chapel with Bro Kevin Terry, Bro. Dale Smith and Bro. George Harold Sexton officiating. Graveside service will be on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Byrd Cemetery in Huntsville. Pallbearers will be grandsons and son-in-law. Honorary pallbearers: H. L. Cross, Charlie Lance, Jan Byrd, and Ted Williams. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to: The First Baptist Church of Huntsville Building Fund P.O. Box 214 Huntsville, Tennessee 37756.
