  Peggy, Having been instrumental in the saving and ongoing maintenance of a historic old cemetery in White Co., TN, I have learned a lot. First,there are no government monies for maintenance of private cemeteries in TN. There are laws that permit relatives and descendants to visit and maintain the cemeteries. There are also laws that empower local courts and law enforcement people to enforce the TN Cemetery and Burial Laws, but the results are quite inconsistent and usually reluctantly followed or flatly denied. Diplomacy, compromise, and sweat equity, however, have worked for us in White County rather thanlaw enforcement. The cemetery in White County, TN is the burial site of William BUTRAM,II, who is the ancestor of all the BERTRAM descendants in Fentress Co., TN and surrounding area.
