- CROSS, CLAY WASHINGTON, 87, was born July 4, 1914. He went to be withour Lord and Savior Sunday Dec. 23, 2001. He worked and made hishome with his wife Odessa Vincent Cross in the Mossy Grove Community.He was a carpenter by trade and built many homes in Morgan Countybefore his retirement. He also drove a school bus for many years forthe Morgan County School System. He was preceded in death by his wifeOdessa; mother and father Matilda and Rufus Cross; brothers, Ray, Hurland Jim, siisters Grace Wilson and Ollie Bonifacious; grandson Roger"Freckles" Tidwell; great-grandsons, Seth and Simon Coker andson-in-law Mike Hamm. He is survived by children Lois Tidwell, WandaCoker and Verlin "Sonny" Cross; grandchildren, Terry Coker, Dara Hamm,Leslie Jackson, Jeffery and Jason Cross and Melissa Murray; and manygreat-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The familyreceived friends Tuesday morning at 10 a. m. in Schubert Funeral Home,Wartburg with funeral services following at 10:30 a. m. with Rev.Lyndon Jackson officiating. Interment followed in the Mossy GroveBaptist Church Cemetery. [Morgan County News]
